There’s something about photographing a wedding around Valentine’s Day that feels extra magical. The Atrium at Meadowlark Gardens is the perfect spot for a winter wedding. When you pair those romance vibes with a gentle mix of slushy snow falling softly over Meadowlark Gardens, it turns into the kind of day you don’t forget. We might have frozen ourselves a little bit getting their portraits – but in the end it was worth it!
Jack and Camilla’s wedding was a big, beautiful celebration of family, friendship, and tender moments, wrapped up in a typical DC winter. From the second I arrived, there was this cozy, electric energy in the air. It was freezing outside, but you could feel the warmth radiating from every hug, every laugh, and every teary-eyed toast. The Atrium and Meadowlark Gardens is the perfect spot for a winter wedding. With all that greenery, giant glass window and a super cool vibe, you don’t have to care about the weather outside!
We spent our portrait time ducking under the porticos, and using all those fun columns for some perfectly framed portraits. There’s something so romantic about a couple huddled together under cover while the world turns white around them. Or in our case, slushy -because let’s be honest, Fairfax gets more slush than it does snow! Camilla’s floral inspired dress picked was showstopping, and Jack couldn’t stop stealing glances at her — it was effortless, and so them.
One of my favorite parts of the day was watching Camilla with her mom. There were these quiet, tender moments between them — a squeeze of the hand before the ceremony, shared tears during the vows, and the way her mom tucked a stray curl behind Camilla’s ear like she’d done a hundred times before. It’s those little, unplanned moments that stick with me.
The reception turned into a total Mardi Gras-inspired party, and it was everything you’d hope for on a cold February night. Festive celebratory hats, LED accessories and a dance floor packed with people who clearly came to celebrate. It was joyful, loud, a little wild — and absolutely perfect.
Every detail of the day was so thoughtfully done. From the deep, rich florals to the flickering candlelight and cozy lounge spaces for guests to warm up in, it was a beautiful reminder that winter weddings have their own kind of magic.
