Family Sessions are secretly one of my favorite types of work to do. I shoot them all throughout the year, and more often than not, my families are previous wedding clients. In the same way that I love photographing weddings for their crazy/busy/happy vibe, I love working with families. There is just something so fun, and joyful, about photographing children. I love leaning into the energy, the playfulness and the exploration that little kids bring to a situation. And one of the best places for a Family Session is at Green Spring Gardens. Nestled in the corner of where Annandale, Fairfax, Alexandria meet, is this gorgeous manicured garden.
Rob and Olivia have the sweetest little family and I couldn’t have been happier photographing them. We met up at Green Spring Gardens for their family session and spent about an hour walking, playing and laughing amongst all the pretty summer flowers. While we were just past the “official” newborn stage, documenting the early months of babyhood is always wonderful. From sleepy yaws, to cranky snuggles with dad, their newest addition to the family was super duper cute. When you add in an adorable 4 year old, and a hunt for bees and butterflies we had the best time!
Whether you’re getting ready for Christmas cards, or getting photos just for fun, shoot me an email! I’m more than happy to fit sessions into my schedule year round and try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your little one’s schedule. My family sessions are all about documenting real life with kiddos. We’ll grab some lovely posed photos along the way, but what I’m really here for is the hair in the face, giant smiles and big hugs that only little kids will let strangers see. They are fleeting moments – so let’s photograph before those little ones are all grown up!
